Locksmith Services Across the UK

Keith Carrier & Son provides specialist locksmithing services for customers, fellow locksmiths, contractors and heritage organisations across the UK and internationally.

Our expertise lies in traditional and bespoke locksmithing, particularly where modern replacement products or standard repair methods are unsuitable. From restoring historic and unusual locks to handcrafting replacement keys, reproducing obsolete components and manufacturing complete bespoke mechanisms, we provide solutions built around the individual requirements of each project.

With decades of experience and traditional skills passed from father to son, we have worked on everything from antique furniture and safes to churches, castles, listed buildings and prestigious heritage properties. This specialist knowledge allows us to understand how older mechanisms were originally constructed and find practical ways to repair, preserve or accurately reproduce them. Whether you have a lock that needs a key or a key that needs a lock, we can build both for your convenience.

General and Automotive Locksmith Services

Alongside our specialist and heritage work, Keith Carrier & Son provides general locksmith services for homes, businesses and commercial properties. This includes repairing faulty or damaged locks, replacing components, cutting and making keys, and finding practical solutions for locking systems where standard parts may no longer be available.

Our experience also extends to automotive locksmithing, with particular expertise in older, classic and specialist vehicles. We can assist with replacement and broken keys, vehicle locks and unusual automotive locking mechanisms that may require traditional locksmithing knowledge or bespoke components.

Each job is assessed individually, drawing on decades of practical experience to determine the most appropriate repair, replacement or handmade solution.

Repairs for Complex Locks

Our specialist expertise lies in working with locks and mechanisms that require skills beyond conventional repair or replacement. These can include historic and antique locks, obsolete mechanisms, architectural ironmongery and unusual locking systems found in listed buildings, churches, castles and heritage properties.

Each mechanism is carefully examined to understand how it was originally constructed and how its individual components work together. Wherever possible, we aim to retain and restore the original lock rather than replace it. When springs, levers, bolts or other components are damaged, missing or no longer manufactured, we can make replacement parts by hand and restore the mechanism to working order.

Where a lock cannot be repaired, we can also reproduce components or manufacture a bespoke mechanism using the original lock, surviving parts or patterns as a reference.

Keith Carrier & Son is regularly approached by fellow locksmiths and organisations for projects that fall outside routine locksmithing. With decades of practical experience and traditional skills passed from father to son, we can provide specialist solutions for locks that require careful restoration, bespoke manufacturing and an understanding of traditional lock construction.
