Key Cutting Across the UK and Beyond

Keith Carrier & Son provides specialist key cutting and handmade key services for customers, fellow locksmiths and heritage organisations across the UK and internationally.

Our expertise extends beyond standard key duplication to keys for antique, historic, obsolete and unusual locking mechanisms where suitable blanks or replacements are no longer available. Using traditional locksmithing skills, keys can be individually cut, shaped and finished by hand to operate the original mechanism correctly.

We can work directly from an existing lock or mechanism, as well as from an original key or pattern where available. Our experience includes producing specialist keys for antique furniture, safes, churches, historic buildings and complex locks, including Bramah and Cotterill mechanisms.

Standard and Automotive Key Cutting

Keith Carrier & Son provides spare and replacement key cutting for a wide range of domestic, commercial and automotive applications. From everyday duplicate keys to replacements for worn, damaged or missing keys, we can produce keys for both modern and older locking systems.

Our experience also extends to automotive key cutting, particularly for older, classic and specialist vehicles where standard replacement options may be limited. Using traditional locksmithing knowledge and practical key-making skills, we can assess the original key or locking mechanism and determine the most appropriate solution.

Where a suitable key blank is unavailable, our specialist manufacturing capabilities may allow a key to be individually made or adapted to suit the original lock, helping to retain the existing mechanism rather than replacing it unnecessarily.

Keys for Old and Unusual Locks

Older, historic and unusual locks often require specialist key-making skills rather than conventional key cutting. Original keys may have been lost or damaged, suitable blanks may no longer exist, and in some cases the lock itself may be the only reference available.

Keith Carrier & Son can manufacture and hand-cut keys specifically for these mechanisms. Using traditional locksmithing techniques, we can work directly from the original lock, an existing key or surviving pattern to determine the shape and operation required and create a working replacement.

Our experience includes producing keys for antique furniture, safes, churches, listed buildings and historic locking systems, including specialist Bramah and Cotterill mechanisms. We have also recreated keys for intricate locks dating back centuries where modern replacements are simply unavailable.
